- Hagane: Hagane is a Shimano reel design concept created to withstand continual use and extreme abuse. Hagane is an innovation with built-in toughness and durability that works alongside Shimano’s precision engineering. HAGANE is for all anglers.
- Hagane Body: The Hagane Body is a metal reel body with high rigidity. The body rigidity and impact resistance virtually eliminate body flexing on the reel while fighting a fish. The result transforms the angler’s actions directly into cranking power.
- CoreSolid Body: Shimano CoreSolid Body is a revolutionary design that integrates the frame, B sideplate, and levelwind guard into a single, solid piece of aluminum. This construction provides exceptional strength and rigidity, while also reducing weight.
- Silenttune: SilentTune reduces the vibration of the bearing during high-speed rotation by applying slight pressure to the bearing holding the spoke. This improves the quietness while casting and makes the rise of the spool rotation smoother.
- Micromodule Gears: Micromodule gears are made using a special manufacturing process that allows Shimano to create gears with extremely tight tolerances. This results in gears that are more precise and that mesh together more smoothly. The larger surface area also makes them more durable.
- X-Ship: Shimano X-Ship provides increased cranking power and durability.
- SVS∞: SVS Infinity is a Shimano casting control system that uses centrifuge weights to control the spool speed. It is more precise, adjustable and more durable than previous systems.
- CI4+: CI4+ is a lightweight and durable composite material that is used in many Shimano reels. CI4+ is stronger than traditional graphite, and it is also more corrosion-resistant.
- S3D: S3D is a Shimano spool design that reduces spool weight and rotational inertia. This results in increased casting distance and accuracy.
- MGL Spool III: The MGL Spool III is a new generation spool that pursues low inertia and features a narrow-shape design with a width of 19 mm, thus reducing inertia by about 15%. The benefit is unparalleled casting performance.
- Cross Carbon Drag: Cross Carbon Drag is a Shimano drag material that is made with cross-woven carbon fibers. Cross Carbon Drag is smooth and powerful, and it is also very durable.
- S A-RB Bearings: S A-RB bearings are Shimano’s high-quality anti-rust ball bearings. S A-RB bearings are coated with a special anti-rust film, which makes them ideal for use in saltwater and other corrosive environments.
- Super Free Spool: Super Free Spool is a Shimano feature that disengages the anti-reverse bearing when the spool is casting. This allows the spool to spin freely, which results in increased casting distance.

SilentTune reduces spool bearing vibration to maximize casting distance and improve cast feel.
